Yellow Bellied Gliders

Volunteers needed between 7-15 July 2018 to participate in a census of Yellow-bellied gliders in Tumoulin Forest, north of Ravenshoe. Please contact John Winter either via email:

jw.winter@bigpond.com or telephone 07-4091-5289 if you are interested.

This is an opportunity to be a part of the first ever census for yellow-bellied gliders in Tumoulin Forest. It is a population of great interest because it is isolated due to forest clearing to the north and south of the area. No experience in observing YB gliders is needed as there will be training video of gliders and their calls as well as in the field training sessions. Volunteers will be positions just before dusk at trees to count the number of gliders visiting the tree to lick sap from incisions the gliders have made in the tree trunks. Volunteers will need to be in position from just before dusk until 8PM.

If you might be interested in this unique opportunity, please contact John Winter at 07-4091-5289 or via email: jw.winter@bigpond.com for further details.
